...phooey on that guy!

Hello, we do still exist!
Huge apology for not keeping up wth my blog, at all. Life and other social medias have taken over!

You can find us on FB where we try to post a quote, or something relevant daily, here too I slip, but am much more on my game.

As always, we encourage this project to go local. Grab a group of friends and spend the afternoon creating precious dolls to donate to your local shelter.  There are easy to follow patterns on this site , as well as Pintrest, ya gotta love Pintrest.  And don't worry if they aren't  "perfect". It is easy for that wee small voice in your head to say, oh, that my effort won't make a  difference, or  it may discourage you and say, "you call that a doll" ? We call that voice the resistance, and that little bugger wants us to fail. Phooey on that guy! We are here to help and create!

So, create, care, and donate.

Big Love,
Brenda

P.s. Thanks Susan P.  for the assist!!

P.s.s. If you'd rather mail them to 303 McKinley St. Valparaiso,  In 46383 that's fine too!

...put in my thumb...

Wow!

I am so thrilled that this project keeps thriving in spite of me!

So many pies I have my thumbs in, but I do think I'm starting to pull out the plums!

I have been busy working on creating a workspace. I have been fortunate to purchase an incredible structure just outside of town. She is definitely a "handy-women!s special,"  but guess what? I'm a handy woman.

One of my dreams for this space is to create a work space/gathering space for creatives to hang out and share. If someone doesn't have a project to work on, there will always be Comfort Doll supplies for either creating, tagging or preparing for shipping.

I continue to want to blog, and as I create more structure in my days I believe I will. In the meantime, for a quick fix, please find us on Facebook at Comfort Doll Project, and This Round House

I truly am inspired by this structure.

I believe it is a space where dreams will come true.

Btw...I do still plan on getting the matryoshka doll pattern put together.

Once again, giant thanks to everyone who keeps this project alive.

Smiles to All,
Brenda

...learning to trust yourself

I came across this book, or this book was placed in my path. Either way, I am so pleased to be reading it : The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom

“If someone is not treating you with love and respect, it is a gift if they walk away from you. If that person doesn't walk away, you will surely endure many years of suffering with him or her. Walking away may hurt for a while, but your heart will eventually heal. Then you can choose what you really want. You will find that you don't need to trust others as much as you need to trust yourself to make the right choices.”

― Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom

To me this has not  been an obvious cause and effect.  Whether I learned my smoke and mirror thinking or not,  what I do know now is that I have  the ability to shift my thinking. I have the ability to change.

Simple.

(Please note : simple does not mean without effort or easy)

Sent from my Kindle Fire

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

...oh the holidays...

ok, I bought a kindle fire so that it would make it easier to post on my blog. I generally have my bursts in the am, while in bed, java on one side, pug, black and tan, and husband on the other. Well, I have been completely discouraged as I can't post from the fire.

Now I recently read that there is some way to post through an e-mail onto blogger, still haven't figured that one out yet either, but there is hope on the horizon!! (but isn't there always)

Are these all excuses for not getting my rear in gear and getting on here. Umm, yes. I'm running with it!

I just want to shout out to everyone who continues to send dolls. I am working right now locally. I have many friend and friends of friends who are headed out of town, headed out of state who have offered to hand deliver bags of these lovelies across the US.

Also, a big HIP-HIP-HOORAY  to paintingforjoy

Click on her link to see the dolls she made and donated to her local Union Gospel Mission!! Wonderful!

Joy, Kindness, and most of all Smiles to All,

...hello from the land of beyond

Yes, Yes, Yes! that is the answer to if we are still up and running. Yes.

I have been extremely busy with a new obsession, and venture. I have purchased an abandoned roundhouse in our area, which also was a doll factory. To say the least, it has been a whirlwind of activity.

Once again, if you are able to donate to your local shelter, that would be wonderful. Please leave a comment here, or on our FaceBook page:  Comfort Doll Project
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Comfort-Doll-Project/175912422519995
Please feel free to post your work on the wall and talk about what you are doing!

I know this is a fly-by...both oars are in the water!
Smiles to all,
Brenda

...May?? already??

...simply amazing, the month of May is already here!!
I have been completely absorbed in my personal and professional life...BUSY!
So, Hello again and Happy May!
As you can see by the photo, I'm slightly back logged, gratefully so!

Yeah, that's the corner in my front room...I think the neighbors may be wondering if I have started a box business! I am looking at the forecast and it does look like I will be blessed with chilly weather and rain...yes blessed, as I won't have the outdoor work tempting me to come out and play!

I still have the felt Matryoski doll pattern in the works and hope to get it linked in soon.
In the meantime, I have found that doing a search on Pintrest for cloth dolls, or handmade dolls, or felt dolls generates great ideas as well as patterns.

Have a great time creating!
Smiles to All,
Brenda
